Edward "Eddie"
Harold Kline, Iii
d. Jul 18, 2024
YORKTOWN
Edward (Eddie) Harold Kline, III, 35, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Eddie was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 16, 1988. As an Air Force Dependent, he also resided in Maryland and Illinois, before making his home in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
Eddie was a graduate of Christopher Newport University and was in the process of earning his MBA at William and Mary. He was an employee of Newport News Shipbuilding as a Contract Administrator since 2019. He absolutely loved his job, his boss, and his coworkers. He attended church at Lifepoint Hampton Roads in Norfolk.
As a teenager, Eddie bravely fought and beat cancer. Eddie spoke Spanish as a second language. He loved music and sang in choirs. He was the first to grab the mic at karaoke and was the life of every dance floor. He played the piano and learned to play bass guitar at Celebrate Recovery.
Eddie had a passion for history and reenacting. He was a member of Battery F, 1st Pennsylvania Light Artillery, a living history reenacting organization, where he took part in realistic Civil War reenactments, honoring and preserving the memories of soldiers who fought and died in the name of freedom. During the past twelve years, he rarely missed an event. Additionally, Eddie participated with 1st Section, a similar group that focused on horse-drawn artillery and wagons, supporting the preservation of National Parks and Battlefields. He also frequently volunteered at the Wigmaker Shop at Colonial Williamsburg, where he shared his passion and enthusiasm for history with many.
Eddie is survived by his fiancée, Andrea Simms; his parents, Ed and Margie Kline and his brothers and sisters, Katelynn, Bethany, Christian, Luke, David and David's wife Kylie. In addition, he is survived by his grandfather Edward Kline, Sr.; grandparents John Donald and Eleanor McGee; 4 uncles; 5 aunts and 17 first cousins.
Eddie deeply loved his family and friends and was happiest in their company. He was a helping neighbor, a loyal friend, a caring sibling, an incredibly faithful son, and a committed, loving fiancé. He had a contagious sense of humor that brought smiles, laughter and light everywhere he went. He loved Jesus and demonstrated His love to others by being a servant. Eddie was selfless, always quick to lend a helping hand and a listening ear. While he will be sorely missed, his legacy of spreading joy will live on through the lives of all those blessed to know Eddie.
At the families request, viewing will be private.
A public memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26th at 12:00 PM at Calvary Reformed Presbyterian Church in Hampton, Virginia. The family will greatly appreciate flowers which can be sent to the church or to W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
