Obituary

Edna Louise Doughty Hatchett Deihl passed away at home peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2021 surrounded by family. She battled a long illness with dementia and Alzheimer's.

Louise was born August 5, 1945 and was a lifelong resident of Newport News. She was a stay at home Mom until 1980, when she went to work at the Newport News Shipyard as a pipe fitter's helper. Louise retired in 2004 as a material handler. She loved being at a beach, laughing, dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cornell T. Doughty and Edna N. Doughty; two brothers, Marion Doughty and Butch Doughty; and one sister Mary Nell Branch. Louise is survived by one sister Frances Tolleson (husband Tom). She also leaves behind one daughter Rhonda Deihl; two sons, Ronnie Hatchett Jr. and Johnnie Deihl; two granddaughters, Julie Hatchett and Amber Deihl-Withers (husband Mason); daughter-in-law Kathy Hales and son-in-law Tracy Hildebrand.

The family would like to thank Riverside Hospice for their compassion and gentle care, even if it was for a short time. We would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Frank Huffman for his many years as her trusted physician.
