Duncan Edwin
Jeter, Sr.
d. Dec 9, 2021
Duncan Edwin Jeter, Sr. was born on January 9, 1963 in Gary, Indiana to the late Samuel and Jeanette Jeter. He was unexpectedly called to rest on December 9, 2021 at the Hunter Holmes McQuire VAMC in Richmond, Virginia.
Duncan served in the U.S. Army for 10 years and was a veteran of Desert Storm. Prior to calling Yorktown, Virginia his home, he also worked as a Government Contractor for companies in a number of places such as Germany, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Duncan had a passion for fixing things. He loved the challenge of figuring out how things work and then sharing the technical aspects with those he loved. He loved building things and working with his hands. He left an impression on everyone he met no matter how long or short he knew them. He was always a phone call away. Duncan loved family, fishing, bowling, football and motorcycles. He especially loved spending time with the apple of his eye, granddaughter Kalea.
In addition to his parents, Duncan was preceded in death by his sister, Denise Ford.
Among those left to cherish his memory: his wife of 32 years, Clara Jeter; children, Dominic and Kyra Jeter; granddaughter Kalea Craft; sister Jeanette Springer; brothers, Samuel and Steven Jeter; in-laws, Evelyn and Walter Copeland, Rose and Alvin Russell, Brenda and Ron Sims; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 6 PM to 7:30 PM at the W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Newport News, Virginia.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
Duncan will be laid to rest at a later date in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
