Douglas Clifton Barnes passed away on August 11, 2026 in Hampton, VA. He was born on May 5,1950 and raised in Newport News and attended local schools.  He was the owner of Barnes Heating and AC Company in Hampton.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Ralph W. and Kathryn N. Barnes, his brother, Kenneth W. Barnes and his son, Dennis Barnes. He is survived by his Significant Other of 44 years, Margarete Dodds of Hampton and his sister, Audrey Pardon (Clayton) of Alabama.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 18 at W.J. Smith and Son Funeral Home on Harpersville Road, Newport News from 6-7PM and graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 19 at 3PM at Peninsula Memorial Park on Warwick Blvd. Newport News.
