Dorothy Mae Lassiter, 83, of Newport News passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend who devoted her life to her family and those she loved. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, warm heart, and unwavering love for her family.

Survivors include her loving children, Linda Ritchie, Bobby Mitchell, Donna Casey, Charles Lassiter Jr. all of Newport News and Angela "Charlene" Richardson (Randal) of Hampton; six grandchildren, Michael Mitchell (Patricia) of Alabama, Karen Dotson (Chris) of Matthews County, Kathy Denoy (Robert) of Middlesex, Crystal Tijerina of Newport News, Alexis Etienne (Cameron) of Florida, and Isabelle Richardson of Florida ; fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory forever.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Henry Lassiter, Sr. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held from 11 am to noon on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, at W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held directly after visitation, followed by burial at Peninsula Memorial Park at 1 pm. The Family will be receiving friends and extended family at the Richardson residence following the service.
