Dorothy Louise Hogge, 86, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on August 22, 2022. She was born on January 23, 1936 in Asheville, North Carolina. She was a lifelong resident of Hampton for over 60 years.

She was the daughter of the late Carl L. Brackett and Maggie Lunsford. She was preceded in death by her late husband Maurice F. Hogge, Sr.; and her two brothers, Thomas Brackett and Carl L. Brackett, Jr.

She loved gathering with her family for the holidays, especially Christmas and Easter. She loved poker nights with her family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for going to the racetrack.

Dorothy's greatest accomplishments were caring and raising her seven children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children, Michelle Shuffler (Robin), Tina Mawyer (Steve), William Hogge, Sr., Carl Taylor (Janet), Maurice Hogge, Jr., Phyllis Milligan (Sam), and Vera Heitkemper (Dwayne); 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy touched the hearts of so many people. She will be loved and missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

A memorial service will be held W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home at 2 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2022 with Pastor Bill Gray officiating. The family will receive friends after the service until 4 PM.
