Dorothy "Jean" Conner, age 86, passed away at home surrounded by her family on July 9, 2026.  She was born in Lucama, NC.  She was preceded in death by the love of her life, J.D. Conner, after 59 years of marriage that started when she was the young age of 14. She is survived by their four children that she devoted her life to; Shirley G. "Wendy" Saunders, James D. "Pete" Conner, Brenda "June" Messenger and her husband David, and Jay D. Conner and daughter in law Wendy Conner. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her. She had a way of always making everyone feel like her favorite although she would never say it. If you had the pleasure of knowing our Mom/Granny then you know she loved Jesus and her family but was never afraid to show you her sassiness. She will leave a huge void in our lives and will be greatly missed by all including her baby "Gizmo".

Join us to celebrate a life well lived and loved at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home on Thursday July 16, 2026 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am for visitation followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am at Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will gather at Wendy's following the service and invites you to join us.
