Donald Ray Pelfrey, 79, of Smithfield, VA, formerly of Wayne, West Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 27, 2023.

Don was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church of Yorktown, VA.

Don will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon Kay (Blake) Pelfrey; daughters, Janet (Brad) Schultz and Donna (Frank) Urquidez; son, Jeffery Donald Pelfrey; 11 grandchildren, Jonathan, Kevin, Abigail, Esther, Andrew and Elizabeth Urquidez, Jeffery Jr., Tyler, Nicolas, Luke, and Chloe Pelfrey; and 1 great-grandson, Lincoln Urquidez; sisters, Virginia Fishburn, Barbara Lackey, Janice Kibler, and Doreen Ball; brother, Harless Pelfrey.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Kathleen Lambert, Vivian Hartman, and Juanita Clay, and bothers, Robert, David, and John.

A funeral service will be at 6 PM, Friday, February 3, 2023 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News, VA, with a visitation following until 7:30 PM. Burial will be at 11 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in Southampton Memorial Park in Franklin, VA.
