David Lee Bailey, 53, of Newport News passed unexpectedly on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

He was well known for his love of laughter, a wide variety of music, and all things Sci-Fi. He is also remembered as an extremely kind man with unwavering faith in Christ who devotedly loved his wife, son, and family. He had a deep passion and love for learning. David had several jobs throughout his career, all of which served others, but he was most proud of teaching and helping students (Bruton High School and Grafton Middle School) not only to learn, but to develop and grow mentally and emotionally into young adults.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Lee Bailey and Mary Bean Bailey, and his firstborn son, Joshua Michael Bailey. He is survived by his wife Angela Munn Bailey and son Micah David Bailey; his sister Sheila Bailey Downs (Raymond);brother-in-law, Scott Munn (Melanie); and parents-in-law, John and Carol Munn. He had one niece, Melissa Downs, and two nephews, Jake and Luke Munn. He also had several cousins that were as close as brothers and sisters to him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM on Friday, September 13, 2024 in the chapel of Liberty Live, Hampton. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 PM.  Burial will be private.
