On Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Cynthia Anne Payne-Miller (née Bax) went to spend eternity with the Lord Jesus.

Cindy was born December 19, 1947 in Niagara Falls, New York to Louis Bax and Sylvia (Valery) Bax. Cindy was a loving wife to James W. Miller for 25 years and made their home in Newport News, Virginia.

Cindy raised three children: Robert, David, and Sylvia. She was a born again Christian and first introduced her children to Christ in the early 80's. She lived her life for Jesus, always standing up for her beliefs. She was tough, feisty, and always spoke her mind.

Cindy was a women who loved all, helped all, and despite numerous health issues over the decades, never gave up, never stopped providing, and never stopped giving to her family, community, and friends. She gave generously from her heart regardless of her personal circumstances. She had a love for all animals, especially her dog Lulu. An avid sewer, Cindy also loved to work on crafts, crocheting, and tending to her houseplants, but her favorite pastime was playing games on her I-pad.

Cindy was preceded by her parents Louis, and Sylvia Bax. She is survived by her husband Jim W. Miller of Newport News; a brother Louis; a sister Susan; brother, Leo; children, Robert Marsh (Joanne), David Marsh (Sonia), and Sylvia (Marsh) Smith (David Sr); grandchildren: Rachael, Jesse, David Jr., Courtney, Chase, and Ethan; several great grandchildren, six brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, ex-husband Robert Marsh and countless friends and loved ones. She will be forever missed.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
