Obituary

On the morning of December 21, 2025, Constance Anastasiou was welcomed home by her Savior Jesus Christ.

Constance, known as Connie, was born a first generation American in Norfolk, Virginia, December 9, 1937,  to Andrew and Helen Ann "Midge" Nichols. Connie was  proud of her Cypriot-Greek heritage and remained close to the Greek communities in Newport News and Norfolk.

She was a graduate of Granby High School and of a local a business college. In the mid 1950s, at a Greek Orthodox Youth Association dance, she met the love of her life, and future husband Mike. They were married in September 1963 and settled in Newport News, where they started their family. Together they raised three daughters: Michelle,  Andreanna, and Mary Stella.

In the mid 1970s, Connie began volunteering at her daughters' elementary school as a teacher's aide, which led her to an administrative job at Ferguson High School. She held other positions through the years in the Hampton and Newport News school systems.

Upon retiring Connie enjoyed going to her bridge games and having lunch with her Red Hat Ladies group.

Connie and her husband were active members of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. There she became the church's organist and played with the choir for over forty years. This commitment gave her the opportunity to combine her love for church and music. Connie was also very active as a volunteer in the church's Vacation Bible School Program as well as the annual Greek Festival.

Connie, always elegant and smiling, lived a life full of giving and loving. Her final years were spent enjoying playing her piano, giving attention to the dogs she loved, and spending time with loved ones.

Connie is preceded in death by her loving husband Mike, her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Buddy Redfearn.
She is survived by her three daughters Michelle, Andreanna and Mary Stella (Nathan), her godson Michael Marinos and goddaughter Cathy Matinaos, and many nieces and nephews.
