Obituary

Hampton - Christina Carroll "Chris" Ellyson, 65, passed away October 31, 2021.

A California native, she was the daughter of the late James Rogers and the late Alice Pettigrew Rogers of Downey, California. She was a graduate of Warren High School. She served her country as a U.S. Army medic until motherhood, and as an Army wife for 32 active duty years. Chris was a lifetime homeschool teacher and home education advocate, mentor, newsletter editor, and was a faithful mature member of Reformation Christian Fellowship, Newport News.

Chris loved her Creator, what He created, her country, "Hubby Ron," and her children. She loved all things yarn craft, needle point, encouraging young mothers, and participating in Colonial Re-enactment historical events to honor her Daughters of the Revolutionary War heritage. Learning about and sharing her views on her faith, the Church, current events, and world leaders was an endless passion! She loved to brag about her kids and grandkids. Grandma Ellyson always looked forward to holiday family gatherings and was fascinated by the answers she would hear from thought-provoking questions she asked her grandkids.

Surviving are her husband Ronald Ellyson of Hampton, VA; five children, Anna Clark (Michael) of Venice, FL, Abigail Ashton (Stephen) of Simpsonville, SC, Daniel Ellyson of Warner Robins, GA, Timothy Ellyson (Kasey) of Louisville, KY, and Steven Ellyson of Bonaire, GA; a brother Randall Rogers (Michelle) of Running Springs, CA, and a sister Deborah Bajhart (Alfred) of Lake Forest, CA; twelve grandchildren, Josiah Ashton, Austin Ellyson, Jonathan Ashton, Nathaniel Ashton, Ava Ellyson, Ilsa Clark, Noah Ellyson, Kate Clark, Eli Ellyson, Emilia Clark, Benjamin Ashton, and Alice Clark; and her beloved dog Libby.
