Charles E. Wilson, also known as Whitey and Slim, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at his home.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He attended Fork Union Military Academy and Hampton High School. Charles was a faithful member of Parkview Church of God, serving as an usher, landscaper, and greeter for many years. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 39 years of service where he was a pipe coverer and insulator. Over the years, Charles enjoyed playing baseball, football, basketball, and participating in the local bowling league with his two daughters.

He is preceded in death by, his parents, two sisters, one brother, and one grandson. He is survived by his wife of 65 ½ years, Norma Wilson; daughters, Joyce Fatony (Sam) and Jan Hollifield (Darrell); granddaughters,Melissa Hicks (Nathan) and Jennifer Percival (John); Step-grandchildren, Denny, Sammy, Annie, and Mary; 5 great-grandchildren; 9 step great-grandchildren; and 4 great, great-grandchildren; brother, Donnie Wilson; sisters, Pat King (Morris), Sharon Smith; one nephew and many nieces.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Parkview Church of God, 1116 Briarfield Road, Newport News, Virginia at 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12 Noon, officiated by Reverend Terry D. Swiney. Internment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park 2539 North Armstead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia.
