Obituary

Charles (Charlie) W. Curtis, age 92, of Williamsburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2026. A man of faith, music, and service, Charlie lived a life dedicated to the glory of God and the love of his family.

Family and Legacy:

The true joy of Charlie's life was his extraordinary 73-year marriage to his beloved wife, Barbara Curtis. Their enduring bond served as a beautiful testament to faith and devotion. He is also survived by his three sons, carrying on his legacy: Charles Curtis Jr., Ron Curtis, and Stanley Curtis. His legacy further lives on through his seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Life of Faith and Music:

Charlie's journey was defined by his commitment to Christian ministry and lifelong learning. He was a proud graduate of the University of Richmond and pursued his calling further by attending the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

A musician with a servant's heart, Charlie served as the Minister of Music for many years at various churches and attended Williamsburg Baptist Church. Through his leadership of choirs and congregational worship, he shared the gospel through song, touching many lives and lifting spirits in every sanctuary he led.

Service to Country and Community:

Prior to his years in the ministry, Charlie served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Japan and the Middle East.

His spirit of fellowship and adventure extended into his later years; Charlie learned to ride a motorcycle at the age of 62 and continued to ride well into his 80s. This passion led to his dedicated service as a Shriner with both the Khedive Motor Patrol and the Boumi Motor Corps, where he enjoyed years of brotherhood and service to others.
