Charles Henry Lassiter, Sr., 78, a native of Newport News, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022. He retired as a master Welder after 26 years with Jefferson Labs.

Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy Mae Lassiter; five children, Charles Henry Lassiter, Jr. of Newport News, Angela Charlene Richardson (Randal) of Hampton, Bobby Wayne Mitchell, Linda Faye Ritchie and Donna Mae Casey all of Newport News; six grandchildren, Michael Mitchell (Patricia) of Alabama, Karen Dotson (Chris) of Hampton, Kathy James (Robert Denoy) of Gloucester, Crystal Tijerina of Newport News, Alexis Etienne (Cameron) of Florida, and Isabelle Richardson of Hampton; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother Willie Lassiter (Bonnie) of Newport News; and one sister Brenda Rogers of Arkansas.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 PM Thursday, February 17, 2022 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will be private. If you wish to join the family for the burial at Peninsula Memorial Park it will be at 3 PM on Friday, February 18, 2022. The family will be receiving friends at the Lassiter residence following the service.
