Charles "Chuck" Hobert Forrester, Jr., age 79, of Newport News, passed away Monday evening, August 4, 2025. He was born November 7, 1945, in Damascus, Virginia, son of late Charles and Hazel Forrester.

Chuck led a very happy, active life filled with family, friends and many activities, such as: wood working, spending time with his wife Nancy, traveling, gardening, maintaining a manicured lawn, walking, and going out to eat. Chuck was an active member of Temple Baptist Church and was always willing to help anyone in need.

He served 4 years in the United States Army and then retired as a machinist from Newport News Shipbuilding.

Chuck was preceded in death by brother Timothy Forrester, sister Catherine Sparks (Tim), brother in-law Tim Sparks, beloved pets Snowball and Jinger, daughter in-law Valarie Forrester, brother in-law Bernard Granger.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Nancy (Britt) Forrester; brother Donnie Forrester (Carlotta); sister Linda Granger (Bernard); brother Ronald Forrester (Margaret Ann); sons Chuck Forrester (Valarie), Gary Forrester (June), David Forrester (Lisa); grandchildren Kenny Ezzell (Melody), Jessi Thomas (Francis), Chloe Forrester (Jackson), Taylor Calderon (Bryan), Grace Forrester, Landon Forrester; great grandchildren Malayah, Francis, Kennedy, Zariah, and Ryan. He also had many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Chuck will be remembered and dearly missed by us all.

Visitation will take place at Temple Baptist Church, 235 Harpersville Rd., Newport News, Virginia on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12 noon followed by a funeral service at noon. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
