Charles "Chuck" Douglas Wise, 85, of Yorktown, VA, passed away at home on December 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 8, 1939, in Newport News, VA, Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew him.

Chuck dedicated 41 and a half years to the Newport News Shipyard, working in various departments before retiring from production control in 1999. He also served his country with pride in the Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Wise; their cherished family: sons Charles Wise Jr. (Savannah), David Martin, and Mike Brown, and daughter Karen D'Auge; nine grandchildren, Katie (Justin) Davis, Brandon D'Auge, Amber Oney, Chase Martin, Dane Martin, Braylen Wise, Haven Wise, and Harper Wise; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Layla, and Evelyn Davis; and his brother Joe Wise and his wife, Susan.

Chuck was an avid golfer with a passion for Duke basketball and a deep love for reading, especially about history. His home, lovingly known as "Nana and Papa's," was always open to family and friends, embodying his love for togetherness. Chuck lived an extraordinary life as an ordinary man, finding joy in life's simplest pleasures and leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met.

The family will receive visitors at W. J. Smith and Son Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on December 28, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM.  Burial will take place immediately after at Peninsula Memorial Park.
