Carol Ann Forrest Dale, age 91, of Smithfield, VA passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years Claude "Bo" Dale. She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Dale of Smithfield, and Lori Walters and son-in-law Robert Walters of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Carey Tompkins, Bailey Daniel (Andrew), Brett Walters, and the new joy of her life, her great granddaughter, Dorothy Ann Daniel, all of Raleigh, NC; a sister-in-law Sarah Keeter of Waverly, VA.; cousins, Phyllis and Melvin Shields of Poquoson; lifelong friend Miriam Sandstrom of Newport News; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carol Ann was employed by Morrison (Warwick) High School directly out of high school. She also worked for Fort Eustis and the Newport News Public Schools Transportation board. She was very proud of her tenure at Peninsula Agency on Aging at the Denbigh Dining Center for 43 years until her retirement at the age of 89. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newport News, an avid reader all her life; never passed a gift shop she didn't want to shop in and enjoyed eating seafood especially at Smithfield Station. Her greatest pleasure though was spending time and laughing with family and friends at her home in Smithfield on the James River.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2023 in Peninsula Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Cancer Center for the care they provided, particularly Dr. Cengiz Inal and Lareka Young, RN. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent in her memory to Peninsula Agency on Aging, 739 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Suite 1006, Newport News, VA 23606.

Arrangements by W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
