Obituary

Brenda Barlow Quillin, of Gloucester, VA, entered the Lord's rest on December 7, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 19, 1950, in Newport News, Virginia. She lived a life marked by devotion to her faith, her family, and her community.

Brenda was a graduate of Newport News High School. She dedicated over three decades of her professional life to the Newport News Police Department (NNPD) as a Senior Administrative Assistant. Her commitment to excellence and professional acumen left a lasting impression on those she worked with, especially at North Precinct, where her steady presence sustained its daily rhythm. After retiring from public service, she landed her dream job as a sales associate at her favorite retail store, Hallmark. She always enjoyed helping customers share their gratitude, affection, and thoughtfulness with others, just as she had so often done. She also shared her love for farmhouse décor and handmade baskets while serving as a Longaberger consultant at various points in her life.

Brenda's greatest legacy was her faith. As a follower of Jesus Christ from a young age, she was an active member of several churches throughout her life, including Noland Methodist, New Covenant Church, World Outreach Worship Center, and Highway to Heaven Biker Church. She always took joy in sharing God's love with others. She performed evangelistic outreach with the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) Lighthouse Riders chapter later in life.

As a reflection of her creativity and love for fellowship, Brenda could often be found cross-stitching, connecting with family and friends over a game of Mahjong, and taking memorable vacations with loved ones.

Brenda's heart was always with her family, and her kindness blessed each of their lives immensely. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Walter Quillin. Daughter, Hansford (Chris) Post; sons Wesley Quillin (Rhonda Roth) and Aaron (Jessica) Quillin. Grandchildren Rachelle Quillin, Reagan Quillin, and Eli Quillin. Sisters; Sharon (Alan) Minter and Christie (Ivy) Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and June Barlow, and her sister Sheila Jones.
