Bonnie Jean Wood, 71, of Newport News, passed away peacefully in her home January 4, 2023. Bonnie will always be remembered as an affectionate caretaker, devoted mother, incomparable grandmother, and a lover of animals. She was also known to be an admirable business owner with the success of Hilton Village's Village Soda Shoppe, which she opened in the 1990's with her husband, Buddy Wood. The soda shop was one of Bonnie's most treasured achievements, second to her beloved family, whom she always put first. She took pride and joy in everything she did, especially her home, where she maintained her many flowerbeds and created beautiful memories with her grandchildren. Bonnie will forever be cherished and missed by her loved ones now that she has been called home to be with our Heavenly Father.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Lucille "Lucy" Clapp and Fred Brickey; husband, Willard "Buddy" Wood Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Renee Cook (Kevin) of Gloucester, and Bonnie Jo Smith of Newport News; her grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Dalton Hardison (Katie Riedmiller), Trevor Smith, Heather Taylor (Lee); and 6 great grandchildren, Lee Taylor III, Stormie Taylor, Caroline Hardison, Jeremy Riedmiller, Mila Hines, and Ava Hines' siblings: Connie Rierson, Phil Pickett, Mary Smith, Lucille Etheridge, Johnnie and Cecelia Brickey; and a host of many nieces and nephews.
