Betty Shipp Feagans, 90, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021. She was born on November 19, 1930 in Appalachia, VA and had been a Newport News resident for 57 years before moving to Smithfield 8 months ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Nora and Leroy. Betty was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she was a choir member, librarian, served on the counting committee, and kept the nursery. She participated in the church's first international mission trip to Canada. She was employed by Riverside Hospital in the lab department for 26 years.

Preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nellie Shipp, and her husband Eugene F. Feagans, she is survived by her two daughters, Mary Polak and her husband Richard of Newport News, and Nora J. Desgranges and her husband Leroy of Smithfield; one brother James M. Shipp and his wife Nancy of Poquoson; four grandchildren, Beth Polak and her fiancé Shawn Jones, Sarah Polak and her fiancé Chris Snow, Robert L. Talley, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Brenna J. Gooch and her husband Jason; twelve great-grandchildren and one on the way, Nikolus Bryant, Logan Senft, Cheyenne Snow, Branden Allen, Robert "Leo" Talley, III, Emma Talley, Angelina Finelli,Tony Finelli, Carlos Finelli, Tristan Talley, Nolan Gooch, Brayden Gooch and Warren Lee Gooch (due in July); two nephews, Jeffrey Shipp and his wife Dorneen, and Michael B. Shipp; and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Friday, February 26, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 AM at the church with Pastor Wes Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
