Ben Ross McKeel, Sr., 88, a resident of Newport News, died on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. He graduated from Ahoskie High School, attended EMI, and received a business BS degree from ACC (Barton College). He served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. Ben retired from Equifax.

Ben was a member of the Williamsburg County Club for many years. He enjoyed playing golf and attending golf tournaments. He was a member of APA, (Mid Atlantic PGA),enjoyed league play and watching U.S. Open "9-Ball" pool tournaments. He loved to exchange jokes with friends, watch his favorite old westerns, and often went to Bluegrass band gatherings at local churches.

He was preceded in death by his parents Silas and Irene McKeel; a sister Judy Hardee; and a brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Burnell McKeel. Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years Joyce Parker McKeel; his son Ben R. McKeel, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in Juniper Church Cemetery in Four Oaks, NC. Due to COVID-19 masks and social distancing will be required.
