Barbara "Ann" Swansey, 93 years old, beloved, beautiful mother of seven children and grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren, died February 17, 2025.  She was born December 22, 1931 to Glaucus W. Lewis and Lillie Mae Dail in Wilson, NC.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Johannes Van de Klashorst, and her husband James Franklin Bailey.   Also preceding her in death was her son Glaucus Jerome Vest, daughter Barbara Dale Alcott (husband Wayne Alcott), and son Robert Lee Bailey.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Ann Futrell (husband Wayne Futrell), son James Keith Bailey, son Steven Wayne Bailey, and daughter Kimberly Bailey-Elfersy (husband Haim Elfersy); her dear sister Theresa Stanfield; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Ann worked all of her life as a cashier with Big Star and Colonial Stores, retiring from Farm Fresh Stores. She was well-loved by her customers and friends. Ann loved to cook, loved her coffee, made the best banana pudding and cakes and had a very generous, giving spirit. She will be missed very much by many.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM Friday, February 28, 2025 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 3 PM Friday, February 28th, at Peninsula Memorial Park.
