Barbara Fay Strum, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Barbara was an avid mail-order shopper and a proud regular customer of Cracker Barrel. She was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding for many years as a courier.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kay and Gay; and a son Wayne Thayer. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, William Henry Thayer of Virginia Beach, Kenneth Earl Thayer of Hampton; nephews, Colin Moody of Virginia Beach, Berry Wilson of Dinwiddie County, Steve Moody of Petersburg; nieces, Jody Moody of Petersburg and Cindy Miller of Colonial Heights; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Peninsula Memorial Park. COVID-19 restrictions are being followed and masks and social distancing are required.
