Barbara Roberts
Parady
May 30, 1937 — May 23, 2025
Barbara Roberts Parady passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on May 30, 1937 to William and Audrey Roberts, the first of two girls, and graduated from Varina High School before going to work as a legal secretary. In 1960, Barbara married William Parady and they moved to Hampton, Virginia where they made a home for the next 61 years and raised a family together. She was a stay-at-home mom to their three children and eventually returned to work as a Teacher's Aide for Hampton City Public Schools working with Special Education students, a position that she took great pleasure in. The only topic Barbara talked about more were her grandchildren, who she was immensely proud of; they will remember her as a loving, funny grandma who was always there for them. Barbara was a devoted Christian, and active in her church for many years, taking on leadership roles with the United Methodist Women when called upon to do so. She enjoyed a wide variety of crafts, as well as being a voracious reader. Barbara and her husband had a passion for traveling and did so extensively in their retired years, visiting most of the United States, as well as traveling abroad many times. As a life-long dog lover, no matter where in the world she was, Barbara would always find a dog to pat. Barbara will be remembered by her family and friends as a one-of-a-kind, adventurous individual with a big personality and heart to go with it and who did it her way to the end. Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, and son Brad, and is survived by her son Craig Parady, daughter Tracie Parady (Norman), daughter-in-law, Sherry Parady; grandchildren, Conor, Nicholas, Zachary, Taylor, and Brocke; her cherished sister, Judy Walker (William) and many other extended family members. A graveside service will be held at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, VA on May 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund; www.curealz.org.
