Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Austin Tyler Massey, on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the age of 25.  Austin was a precious gift from God, and was born on October 30, 1999, in Fredericksburg, Virginia to Troy and Nicole Massey.  He personally confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and received believer's baptism as a teenager.

He was a cherished son, loving big brother, and faithful friend. Austin brought joy to all who knew him with his creativity, kindness, witty sense of humor, and his lovable adventurous spirit.  He was a beacon of love with a gentle soul that touched all who knew him.  Austin's laughter echoed through our home, a melody of happiness that will forever resonate in our memories.

Austin graduated from York High School in 2018 where he lettered in band and led the percussion line for two years.  He was also a member of the drama production team where he found his love for music and theatre, which he continued by working in entertainment and production at Kings Dominion Amusement Park.  Austin loved to play soccer, had a passion for photography, nature, and was an excellent guitar player.  He loved to travel, enjoying time at Disney World and in New York City attending musical productions on Broadway.

Austin is preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Dianne Massey (Nana).  He is survived by his parents, Troy and Nicole Massey, and his younger brothers Jordan (22) and Kaiden (16).  He leaves behind Grandparents Mr. Jerry Massey, Mr. & Mrs. Jim and Tommie Ellison, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, whose lives were greatly enriched by his presence.  Austin's departure leaves an unfillable void in our lives, but we find comfort in the memories and everlasting love we shared.

In lieu of flowers, our family asks that donations be made to Coastal Church, Yorktown, Virginia in Austin's name to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Troy, Nicole, Jordan, and Kaiden will receive family and friends at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Newport News, Virginia on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. followed by a celebration of life and memorial service at 11:30 AM. officiated by Pastor Shaun Brown, Senior Pastor Coastal Church Yorktown.
