Anna Jewell
Warf
d. Jul 7, 2026
Newport News
Anna Jewell Warf, age 97, of Newport News, Virginia unexpectedly went to be with her Lord on July 7, 2026.
Jewell was born in Lillybrook, West Virginia to Clyde and Marie Logan.
Jewell was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Roby Lee Warf, her parents, a sister, Jean Isom, and son-in-law, Larry Lane. She is survived by her children, Roger, Carol and Mary Lane, her granddaughter, Tara Visser, her great granddaughter, Elly Visser, a sister, Barbara (Linwood) Bell, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Jewell worked for many years in retail at Sears, both at the Huntington Ave and Newmarket North locations. She made numerous friends at work and church and all who knew her remarked what a sweet lady she was. She was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Carrollton. She was known for her steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and supported many faith based organizations.
Jewell enjoyed researching the ancestry of both her and Lee's families and they traveled many miles to connect with distant relatives as she pursued this hobby. Of course, Lee was always looking for a new camping or fishing spot for them along the way. They spent many days at their campsite in Suffolk, enjoying the surrounding nature and wildlife. Her favorite activity was feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in her backyard. She loved getting her hair fixed every Friday so she would be ready for church on Sunday. She thoroughly enjoyed going to lunch periodically with longtime friends. She also loved staying in touch with friends and family members by email and snail mail. Over the years, she sent many cards to celebrate events and provide messages of encouragement.
The family will hold a private burial service to be followed by a celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of condolences be given in her memory to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
