Alvin Eubank (known by close friends and family as "Pop", "Al" or "Sonny") was born September 3, 1935 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Ruth and Reuben Eubank. Alvin enjoyed over 90 years of life. He was raised in the small country community of Rena Lara where he and his siblings grew up chopping and picking cotton on their eighty-acre family farm.
Sonny attended Sunflower School and later graduated from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School, culminating in a 42-year career as a supervisor at the Shipyard.
Sonny loved antiques, woodworking, gardening, and nature in general. He planted a large garden every year, providing fruits and vegetables for his family, his neighbors, and friends at church. He also found pleasure in growing English Boxwoods.
Sonny was very talented in many ways and was considered a "Jack of all trades". Sonny loved his sisters Nell Francis Cirilli and Marie Plain, and his brothers Robert Eubank and Marty Eubank.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Eubank, and by their two children, Marty Eubank (Denise), and Jennifer Hansen (Kay).
The family will receive family and friends on December 22, 2025 at 1:00 PM at W.J. Smith and Son Funeral Home for a Visitation followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the same location. Interment will be private.
