Obituary

Abram Stephen Horton, 45, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer.

Raised in Ashland, Virginia, Abram attended Grove Avenue Baptist High School in Henrico. Following graduation, he studied at Liberty University before embarking on a career at Newport News Shipbuilding, where he worked as a Designer 4. His deep interest in technology also allowed him to contribute to innovative IT projects associated with artificial intelligence.

Abram had an adventurous spirit and a passion for creative projects. He expressed his love for music and art through outdoor photography and by designing beautifully complex, tie-dyed T-shirts. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hiking and mountain biking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He was also known for his generous nature, frequently working on cars and helping neighbors with mechanical repairs.

Above all, Abram cherished time spent with his family, especially his son, Noah. The two bonded closely over soccer, a memorable trip to New York City, doting on his energetic Sheltie, Skye, their shared faith in the Lord, and worshiping together at Waters Edge Church.

Abram is survived by his son, Noah Lanier Morris of Suffolk; his parents, Willie H. Horton, Jr. (Lynn) of Newport News, and Debra Woodrick (Robert) of Ashland; his sisters, Gabrielle Everett (Thane) of Fredericksburg, Laura Collins (Jeffrey) of Alaska and Abbey Dupuy (George) of Minnesota; his aunts and uncles; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown. A reception will be held immediately following the service. Burial will be private.
